I received my Bachelor in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala (USAC) and I completed my specialty in Medical Oncology at the Unidad de Alta Especialidad (UMAE) del Hospital de Oncologia, Siglo XXI, del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), endorsed by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM).
I earned a diploma in pain management from the Autonomous University of Chiapas and a master's degree in Palliative Care from the Galileo University of Guatemala. I am currently the Head of the Oncology Unit at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA) and my private practice at Belize Healthcare Partners.
I hold certification from the Consejo Medico de Oncologia and am an active member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), a member of the Latin American Society of Medical Oncology (SLACOM), a member of the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC), and an associate member of the Advanced Breast Cancer Alliance.
My commitment to equity and accessibility of oncology and palliative care services in Belize is reflected in my participation in different initiatives aimed at developing an oncology program in the public healthcare system, human resource training, and the development of treatment protocols and guidelines for the benefit of the population.
